Vernissage Out of Context – Etty Elbaz Griffioen / Stichting De Levant te Amsterdam Out of Context is the first solo exhibition by Etty Elbaz Griffioen. It shows works from 2002-2009. The works show a combination of craft materials, like henna and modeling clay, that are uncommon for paintings. As a daughter of parents who moved from Marokko to Jeruzalem, Etty grew up in the Middle-East. Now she lives and works in Amsterdam Oud-Zuid. The contrast between the Middle East and Amsterdam has been an important inspiration and functions as a framework to contruct a home.

Op “ Internationale Vrouwendag “ besteedt de Internationale Vrije Vrouwen Stichting aandacht aan het geweld tegen de vrouw. Van 14.30 tot 17.30 uur bespreekt een panel de vele facetten van deze problematiek op internationaal, Europees, Nederlands en Turks/Koerdisch niveau. Vanaf 19.00 uur is er een concert met Koerdische, Berberse en Armeense artiesten. Zo kunnen de onderdrukte culturen elkaar ontmoeten. De inkomsten van deze dag worden gedoneerd aan de Vereniging Kircicegi, die steun en opvang biedt aan slachtoffers van geweld.
